ABF study reveals a strong franchise internalization movement in São Paulo

The franchise networks internalization movement has been extensively studied over the last few years. A recent survey by the Brazilian Franchising Association (ABF) has revealed that, outside the capitals, the countryside of the State of São Paulo was the main brand destination – out of the 30 cities with the most brands, 9 are from São Paulo (19 are capital cities).

"Apart from the economic strength, this is due to the fact that a large amount of the franchising networks has their headquarters in the State of São Paulo, so the expansion in nearby municipalities is a natural move in the search for new markets," says Altino Cristofoletti Junior, President of ABF.

The cities with the largest number of brands in the countryside – and which are also in the 30 cities with the biggest number of Brazilian brands list – are Campinas, Ribeirão Preto, São José dos Campos, Santo André, São Bernardo do Campo, Jundiaí, Uberlândia, Sorocaba, Barueri, Guarulhos and Niterói.
